Learn to Skate Programs Our Learn to Skate classes are structured in the format of the United States Figure Skating Basic Skills “Skate With Us” program. Toddlers through adults will be introduced to correct skating techniques in a fun, safe and rewarding environment. Skaters will have the opportunity to earn achievement badges as they progress. Whether the goals is to achieve Olympic fame or to just enjoy the recreational benefits of skating, our “Skate With Us” program is for you! Follow this link to the Arctic Edge Arena website for further information. And, every year, the AFSC sponsors a Basic Skills Competition, part of the Michigan Basic Skills Series.
Private Freestyle, Singles, Pairs and Ice Dance Training - Future Stars Program Professional coaches are available for training for skaters from beginning to national and international competitive levels. After a skater has completed the basic skills levels, the skater may wish to become a part of the "Future Stars" program. This is a bridge program, working toward becoming a fully competitive USFS skater. In this program the skaters work with a coach in a smaller skater-to-coach ratio. Our instructors are all USFS and PSA members and provide expert coaching for all levels of USFS competitive skating. You may reach any of our professional coaches calling the Arctic Edge Arena at 734-487-7777. Their biographies and email addresses are on the Coaches' Page of this website.
Off-Ice Programs Off-ice programs are offered year round for figure skaters. Ballet, Yoga and strength training are integral elements of a program to complement and reinforce the on-ice instruction. Velocity Sports Performance, located on the upper level of the Arctic Edge, provides the athletes a resource for strength, speed and agility training. Summer Training Programs Throughout the summer, our skaters participate in a well balanced training program dedicated to their development as competitive athletes. |
The Arctic Figure Skating Club and the Arctic Edge Arena offers a wide variety of skating programs for every age and skill level from beginning skaters to national and international figure skating competitors.
